Purpose of the Role
To develop pupils as critical, ethical and responsible digital citizens through teaching delivered in English and aligned with the school's approach, fostering digital literacy, computational thinking, online safety and the mindful use of technology.



Responsabilidades e atribuições

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Curriculum

  • Plan lessons aligned with the BNCC (digital competencies), the school curriculum and international Digital Citizenship frameworks.
  • Design teaching sequences on online safety, digital ethics, computational thinking and the responsible use of technology.
  • Integrate digital tools and platforms into cross-curricular and whole-school projects.
  • Keep up to date with digital trends and online risks relevant to pupils' age group.

Teaching and Language

  • Teach predominantly in English, with a clear and deliberate focus on language development.
  • Develop pupils' technical vocabulary for technology and digital environments.
  • Encourage critical reflection on digital identity, privacy and online behaviour.
  • Plan targeted individual interventions where needed.

Assessment and Monitoring

  • Keep systematic records and produce digital portfolios and reports.
  • Plan and administer formative and summative assessments.
  • Use assessment data to inform teaching decisions.
  • Keep school information systems up to date.

Professional Commitment

  • Take part in professional development, staff meetings, pupil progress meetings and school projects.
  • Follow school protocols, internal policies and guidance from leadership.
  • Contribute to curriculum review within the subject area.
  • Uphold the school's culture and values.

Partnership with Families

  • Hold meetings with families, give feedback and prepare formal communications as needed.
  • Report on pupils' progress, challenges and support strategies in line with school policy.
  • Share guidance with families on online safety and the responsible use of technology.
  • Follow the school's communication protocols.

Ethics, Safety and Safeguarding

  • Comply fully with child protection and safeguarding policies, including online safety.
  • Promote pupils' physical, social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Report safeguarding concerns, including online risks, in line with school procedures.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment, both physical and online.
  • Adhere to the staff code of conduct.

Requisitos e qualificações

Expected Profile

  • Degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Education, English or a related field.
  • Sound knowledge of digital tools for education and of online safety principles.
  • Dedicated, committed and collaborative.
  • Committed to ongoing professional learning.

English Proficiency and Certification

  • Fluent English (minimum B2 level).
  • A recognised international certificate is desirable (e.g. Cambridge FCE/CAE, TOEFL or IELTS).
  • Ability to teach entirely in English, with a strong command of technical and digital vocabulary.

Expected Experience

  • Experience teaching Digital Citizenship, Educational Technology or a related subject at lower secondary level (Ensino Fundamental II, from Year 6 / 6º ano, pupils aged 11–12).
  • Experience in bilingual settings or of teaching through English as the language of instruction.
  • Experience of curriculum planning aligned with the BNCC and international frameworks.
  • Experience of formative assessment and record-keeping.
  • Experience of international curricula (e.g. IB, Cambridge or the English National Curriculum) is desirable.
